A major relief has arrived for patients visiting AIIMS Bathinda, with the inauguration of the AIIMS Ved Kumari Mittal Patient Centre Home, a state-of-the-art facility built at a cost of ₹13 crore. The centre was opened to the public amid a religious ceremony marked by reverence and goodwill.
The event witnessed an impressive turnout of dignitaries, including former Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, former Union Minister Som Prakash, MLA Jagroop Singh Gill, and former Mayor Baljit Singh Bir Behman.
AIIMS Director Dr. Ratan Gupta, Bathinda Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Dhiman (IAS), DIG Harjit Singh, SSP Amneet Kondal, MLA Amit Rattan, former MLAs Hardev Singh Arshi and Ruby, District BJP President Sarup Chand Singla, and several representatives from social, religious, and educational institutions were also present. Leaders of nearby village panchayats and hundreds of local residents attended the inauguration.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajinder Mittal, Managing Director of the Mittal Group, said that the new Patient Centre Home was the cherished dream of his mother, late Ved Kumari Mittal. The project, costing ₹13 crore, has been completed under the Dwarka Das Mittal Charitable Trust without any government or external financial support.
He informed that the Dharamshala comprises 63 rooms with 256 beds, including both AC and non-AC facilities. Separate men’s and women’s dormitories with over 100 beds have also been provided.
“To ensure proper food and beverage services for patients and their attendants, an air-conditioned restaurant with seating for 80 people has been set up, along with a langar hall that can accommodate 200 individuals,” he added.
A dedicated waiting area with capacity for 100 people has also been built within the premises.
Rajinder Mittal emphasized that the charges have been kept nominal to maintain hygiene and ensure smooth functioning of the Dharamshala, aimed at supporting patients and their families during difficult times.
