Governor Bandaru Dattatraya extends greetings on World Environment Day
Unveils art painting based on the theme of World Environment Day 2025

Chandigarh, June 5, 2025 - Haryana Governor Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya extended his warm greetings to the people of the state, environment lovers and all stakeholders on the occasion of World Environment Day.
In line with this year's theme ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’, he emphasized the importance of collective efforts for environmental protection.
The Governor said plastic pollution is one of the most serious environmental challenges today, which is adversely affecting human health, biodiversity and climate.
He called upon citizens, organizations and industries to reduce single-use plastic, improve waste management and adopt eco-friendly alternatives.He appreciated the activists, civic bodies, schools and NGOs working for environmental protection in Haryana.
He said, "World Environment Day is not just a day of celebration but an occasion to remember our responsibility towards Mother Earth."
He stressed the need to promote sustainable lifestyle and green initiatives.The Governor reiterated his commitment towards policies that strengthen environmental protection and urged the youth to play an active role in building a greener future.
He said with collective efforts, we can reduce plastic pollution and build a clean and green Haryana.On this occasion, the Governor also unveiled an art painting based on the theme of World Environment Day 2025.
The painting has been specially designed by Sh. Harpreet Sandhu, State Information Commissioner, Punjab. It is a noble contribution aimed at underlining the importance of World Environment Day and spreading the message for positive environmental change by uniting in the society.
During the unveiling of the painting, State Information Commissioners, Punjab, Sh. Varinderjit Singh Billing, Sh. Sandeep Singh Dhaliwal and Ms. Puja Gupta were also present at Haryana Raj Bhawan, Chandigarh.
