Intoxicants seized from inmates inside Ferozepur Jail
Ferozepur, July 20, 2025: In a recent search operation carried out by the jail authorities and staff at Ferozepur Central Jail, 4.2 grams of intoxicating brown powder and approximately 20 habit-forming capsules were recovered from two inmates.
As per the reports, the City Police Station Ferozepur has registered cases under various sections based on the statements of jail officials against the two inmates involved. Giving details, SHO Sharma Singh said that during a routine search conducted by jail staff, inmate Tarsem Singh, son of Joginder Singh, a resident of Mallanwala, was found in possession of 4.2 grams of brown powder suspected to be an intoxicating substance.
In another case, during a separate search, inmate Sukhwinder Singh, son of Jarnail Singh from Jalalabad, was found with 20 red-colored intoxicating capsules.
This recovery once again raises serious questions over the security arrangements inside the jail and how such prohibited substances manage to reach the inmates remains a matter of grave concern. Authorities must investigate the loopholes in the system that allow the smuggling of drugs inside high-security prison premises.
