Chandigarh, September 10, 2025: As devastating floods continue to batter Punjab, the Kalgidhar Trust, Gurdwara Baru Sahib (H.P.), has entered the second phase of its relief operations, pledging to restore hope and dignity to thousands of affected families.
Led by Bhai Jagjit Singh, Vice President, the Akal Sewa Teams—active since August 26—have expanded their mission to include fodder and medicines for livestock, dry rations, mosquito nets, beds, and mattresses for families across Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Ferozepur, and Fazilka. Excavators are also being deployed to remove carcasses of deceased animals, ensuring sanitation and dignity in hard-hit areas.
To streamline relief, the Trust has established warehouses at Akal Academies in affected districts and appealed to the Sangat to contribute essential supplies. Trained volunteers and sevadars are working village-to-village to identify and support the most vulnerable families, with medical camps soon to be launched to provide urgent healthcare.
So far, the Akal Sewa Teams have rescued over 5,500 people from 153 villages across six districts, relocating them to safe shelters.
Reaffirming the Trust’s ethos of service, Bhai Jagjit Singh said, “When disaster strikes, we never hesitate. This is not just relief work—it is a rallying call for unity and compassion.”
