Land dispute turns deadly in Ferozepur; 17-year-old Karmanjot shot dead, two injured

Ferozepur, June 17, 2025: A minor land dispute in village Bhago Ke, located in the Zira area of Ferozepur district, escalated into a violent confrontation resulting in the tragic death of a 17-year-old boy, Karman Jot, and injuries to two others.
According to family members of the deceased, a group of villagers allegedly attempted to encroach upon a narrow village path (phirni) near their house late last night, aiming to merge it into their adjoining farmland. The intruders were reportedly armed with sharp-edged weapons and firearms.
When local residents intervened to stop the encroachment, a heated altercation ensued, during which the armed group opened fire. Karman Jot was shot in the chest and died on the spot. Another individual narrowly escaped death as a bullet grazed near his abdomen, while two others sustained injuries from the butt of a firearm.
The injured were immediately rushed to the Civil Hospital in Zira for medical treatment. The incident has created an atmosphere of fear and grief in the village.
Police reached the spot soon after the incident and have launched an investigation. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused involved in the firing.
