Chandigarh, June 6, 2025 – In a major anti-encroachment operation, the Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) today cleared prime government land from illegal occupation in Pocket No. 9, Manimajra, as part of its ongoing drive to safeguard public property.
Acting on the directions of Commissioner Amit Kumar, IAS, the enforcement team and engineering wing of the MCC removed unauthorized dairy structures and 48 illegally constructed huts from the site. The operation aimed to reclaim land meant for public use and future planned development.
The Commissioner had earlier instructed all departments concerned to identify and act promptly against encroachments without exception. The drive was executed with the support of local police and MCC enforcement personnel, ensuring smooth conduct and minimal disruption to the public.
Reaffirming the Corporation’s firm stance, Commissioner Amit Kumar said MCC is committed to protecting public land and will not tolerate any illegal encroachments. He added that similar drives will be conducted in other areas across the city in the coming days.
He also appealed to residents to refrain from occupying public land illegally and to support the administration’s efforts in maintaining order, cleanliness, and sustainable urban planning.
