Chandigarh, January 19, 2026:The Supreme Court on Monday once again deferred the hearing on the bail application of senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia. The apex court has now scheduled the next hearing in the matter for February 2, 2026.
Earlier, the Supreme Court had directed the Punjab government to file its response in the case by January 19. However, during today’s proceedings, the state government sought an additional two weeks to submit its reply, a request that was accepted by the court.
With this, the hearing on Majithia’s bail plea stands postponed once again. Majithia is currently lodged in Nabha Jail. He had moved the Supreme Court after the Punjab and Haryana High Court rejected his bail application.
