Neither do I have biased intentions nor any grudge against CM: Punjab Governor

Chandigarh, July 26, 2024: Punjab governor Banwarilal Purohit said that he has neither any biased intentions nor any grudge against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
While addressing media on issues like the drugs menace and appointment of chancellors of state Universities, he gave this statementGovernor, who is also the chancellor of all government universities of the state, said 10 Universities of Punjab are running without regular vice chancellors.
He said the state government after passing the bill to appoint CM as the chancellor of any university in the state, sent to him for approval.
He said he decided to pass the same to the President of India for better results and the President had refused to sign those Bills.He said the CM should understand this. "Not only this, drug menace is a very serious problem of Punjab and the CM should pay heed to it, " said Purohit.
However, he appreciated CM for transferring 10,000 cops given the collusion of police with drug peddlers in some areas.
He said he is making frequent visits to border districts to show his concern and also said that the chief minister should put more effort into curbing the drugs menace.He said he is the governor of Punjab, a state which is a border and sensitive state too.
Raising the drugs issue, Purohit said Pakistan is always into supplying drugs to India through the Punjab border. Drones are being used to carry out these illegal activities.
He said during his visit to border districts, he noticed that there was a problem of coordination among agencies and people were having fear too.
While replying to CM Mann's remarks that the governor is selected and not elected, he said, " Who says we are not elected? All governors are elected by the President."
He also made it clear that no matter that his visits are irking CM, he would keep visit border districts being the governor of the state.
