Chandigarh, September 18, 2025:
Punjab’s statewide ‘Yudh Nashe Viruddh’ campaign completed 200 days with law-enforcement reporting sweeping action against traffickers and networks across districts. Officials said sustained operations have “broken the backbone” of peddling rackets through targeted raids, coordinated field teams, and intensified prosecution.
According to the latest tally, 29,930 alleged drug traffickers have been arrested since the campaign began, alongside major seizures including 1,255 kg heroin, 464 kg ganja, and over 33 lakh intoxicant tablets/capsules. Cash proceeds of crime amounting to Rs 12.65 crore have also been recovered.
Marking the 200th day, police arrested 93 more accused and confiscated significant quantities of heroin and other contraband during fresh operations. In a single-day push, more than 150 teams executed 414 raids, checked 449 individuals, and registered 61 FIRs.
Officials said the ongoing drive combines actionable intelligence, rapid inter-district coordination, and sustained pressure on supply chains, while parallel efforts focus on rehabilitation support for dependents and public awareness against substance abuse.
