Punjab Floods Spark Wave of Voluntary Aid: Give and Grow Foundation steps up for Ferozepur victims
Ferozepur, September 19, 2025: In the wake of devastating floods along the Sutlej River, the people of Punjab have been profoundly moved, with volunteers and organisations stepping forward to provide essential support for rehabilitation and rebuilding lives. Leading this compassionate surge is the Give and Grow Foundation, whose team members headed by founder Jasjit Singh Malik, have swiftly responded to the crisis in Ferozepur’s flood-ravaged areas, collaborating with Border Security Force (BSF) officials to deliver targeted aid to isolated communities.
On September 11, 2025, foundation volunteers visited flood-hit zones near the Sutlej banks, assessing urgent needs among affected families. With road connectivity between Kaluwala and Nihalewala villages completely washed away, BSF officials highlighted the critical requirement for 500 meters of rope to facilitate boat crossings. Acting without delay, the foundation procured and handed over the ropes to villagers, enabling them to reconnect the hamlets and safely relocate their livestock to higher ground near the city.
Recognizing the growing distress over livestock welfare, the team addressed another pressing exigency on September 13. Villagers reported that their animals had been without cattle feed for days; in response, 200 bags of feed were urgently sourced and distributed door-to-door across the two hardest-hit villages, offering immediate relief to farmers and herders.
Further heeding recommendations from BSF personnel and local families, the foundation provided 2,000 bottles of mineral water on September 15 to combat dehydration risks in the waterlogged, contaminated areas.
The organization’s commitment extends beyond immediate survival needs, focusing on long-term recovery and community upliftment. In a major upcoming initiative, Give and Grow plans to support 2,174 underprivileged students from 17 schools by distributing approximately 7,000 copies, 10,000 pens, 400 school bags, and full-session fees. This event, graced by the District Education Officer (DEO) and other dignitaries, is scheduled for September 23 at Gati Rajo Ke village. Complementing this educational drive, an additional 400 bags of cattle feed will be provided to farmers in Bhagale village on September 24, reinforcing efforts to stabilize rural livelihoods.
As Punjab’s floods continue to test communities, the voluntary spirit exemplified by Give and Grow Foundation underscores a collective resolve to rehabilitate every affected family, restoring hope one act of kindness at a time.
