Punjab is neck deep in debt: Congress candidate Vijay Inder Singla

Mohali, May 14, 2024: A day after filing nomination from Sri Anandpur Sahib constituency, Vijay Inder Singla commenced his election campaign from the residence of Charanjit Singh Channi (Former CM, Punjab) residence, the roadshow made headway to prominent places at Shri Chamkaur Sahib and concluded at Morinda with great fervor and rigor today!
Attacking on the policies of the Punjab Government, Vijay Inder Singla said, “Punjab is neck deep in debt and this is a consequence of flawed policies and inexperienced governance style. The state government is taking on more fresh loans to carry on with the routine administrative work adding to more and more debt. Of all the Indian states, Punjab has one of the highest debt levels. Its outstanding liabilities are projected to be 46.8% of GSDP by the end of 2024.”
“Most of the guarantees that the Aam Aadmi Party had promised when it came to power have not been fulfilled yet. Farmers are not getting compensation. AAP had assured to give Rs 1,000 every month to women and old pensions for state employees, but this government has failed to fulfill it till now. worsening economic conditions of farmers, agricultural laborers, and rural artisans is worrisome in the state and Congress will work towards their upliftment," said Singla.
“Despite the center and state promising to double farm income, the number of farmers dying by suicide has been rising consistently. Over 270 farmers died by subside in the last 5 years as they are caught in the vicious debt cycle. On the other hand, the central Government has pushed back farmers with tear gas shells and pellet guns and now it’s time that the farmer community will push back BJP with their votes," added Vijay Inder Singla.
Addressing the media, Charanjit Singh Channi eulogised, “Vijay Inder Singla and his family have always strived towards to betterment of the society in Punjab with utmost integrity. As an MP from Sangrur, Singla was instrumental in the development of that area, be it a hospital as big as PGI or a cancer hospital. I also thank him for his work on the road widening & connectivity in Chamkaur Sahib.”
The roadshow really touched upon routes of Lighta Wala Chownk, Sanatan Dharma Mandir, Gurdwara Sri Kotwali Sahib, Khuwala Chonk, Chamkor Sahib turn, village Kanjala, village Kalaran, village Sarhana, village Dudhana turn, village Chaklan, village Ramgarh, village Lutheri, Village Rorki Heera, Kalyan Petro Village Pipal Majra, Ghore Wala Chowk, Sri Katalgarh Sahib, Sri Chamkaur Sahib and concluded at Anaj Mandi Sri Chamkaur Sahib, Nagarkhera, Morinda and Bangala Basti, Morinda in the late evening.
