Rotary initiative brings hope; Rs 10 lakh fee assistance for 342 needy students
Ferozepur, October 21, 2025: In a heartwarming gesture ahead of Diwali, Rotary International District 3090, in collaboration with District 3060 and the Rotary Club of Bombay, organised a scholarship camp for flood-affected students near the Hussainiwala International Border. The initiative covered nearly ₹10 lakh in school fees for 342 students from three local schools, giving them a much-needed boost toward continuing their education.
The camp extended support to students from K.R. Model School, Hazare Ke (180 students), SBS School, Bhanne Ke (147 students), and Gurukul School (15 students) — all belonging to families severely affected by recent floods. Along with the payment of fees, each student received a warm blanket to help them through the approaching winter, symbolizing Rotary’s compassion and commitment to community welfare.
The initiative reflects Rotary’s ongoing dedication to social service through education, health, and environmental projects. The scholarship drive was spearheaded by District Governor Rtn. Bhupesh Mehta, PDG Amjad Ali (3090), and supported by Rotarians, donors, and volunteers from all Rotary Clubs of Ferozepur — including Rotary Club Ferozepur Cantt, Rotary Club Ferozepur, Rotary Club Ferozepur City, Rotary Club Ferozepur Royal, Rotary Club Ferozepur Diamond, and Rotary Club Ferozepur Gold.
Significant contributions also came from Rotary International District 3060 under DG Amardeep Singh and IPDG Tushar Shah, along with the Rotary Club of Bombay led by President Bimal Mehta and PDG Sandeep Aggarwal.
The camp was chaired by PDG Vijay Arora, co-chaired by Ashok Behl, with coordination from State Deputy Coordinator Kamal Sharma and Assistant Governor Vijay Moga. Active participation was seen from several Rotary leaders including Kripal Singh Makkar, Himmat Goel, Rahul Kakkar, Anuradha, Kunal Puri, Dashmesh Sethi, Surinder Singh Kapoor, Narinder Kakkar, Sumit Vohra, Ajay Bajaj, Naveen Arora, Pramod Kapoor, Gulshan Sachdeva, and Boota Singh.
