This latest case comes after Ferozepur reported its first COVID-19 case on May 27, following the virus’s spread to districts like Mohali and Amritsar. Health authorities are on high alert, especially after a man returning from Ambala tested positive, raising concerns across the region.
Added here, as of 8 AM on Monday (June 2), India has 3,961 active COVID-19 cases, according to the Union Health Ministry. Kerala has the highest number of active cases at 1,435, followed by Maharashtra and Delhi. Four COVID-related deaths were reported in the past 24 hours — one each in Delhi, Kerala, Maharashtra, and Tamil Nadu.
Health experts caution that changes in weather and air quality can further exacerbate respiratory infections. The Health Department has urged the public to remain calm, adopt precautionary measures, and avoid creating panic. Vulnerable groups, including people with uncontrolled diabetes, chronic kidney disease, HIV, and transplant patients, as well as the elderly, pregnant women, and children, are advised to be especially cautious.
