State Food Commission Member conducts surprise inspection in Ferozepur; orders action over irregularities
Ferozepur, June 9, 2026:. State Food Commission (SFC) Member, Punjab, Chetan Prakash Dhaliwal conducted a surprise inspection of Ferozepur district to review the implementation of various schemes being run under the National Food Security Act (NFSA), 2013.
During his visit, he inspected ration depots at Talwandi Bhai, Mallwal Kadim and Mandi Guruharsahai, besides visiting the Anganwadi Centre at Talwandi Bhai.
At the Talwandi Bhai ration depot, the depot holder informed him that wheat distribution had not commenced due to non-allocation of wheat. Taking serious note of the matter, Dhaliwal directed the District Food Supply Controller to ensure immediate allocation of wheat to the affected depots. He also ordered the issuance of a show-cause notice to the concerned inspector for the delay and sought a detailed report from the department.
Later, he inspected the wheat distribution process at the Mallwal Kadim ration depot, where beneficiaries were receiving their entitled food grains. At the Mandi Guruharsahai depot, food kits were also being distributed. During the inspections, it was observed that complaint boxes and awareness banners related to the State Food Commission were missing at the depots. Dhaliwal directed officials to install the required facilities and initiate action against the concerned depot holders by issuing show-cause notices.
The Commission Member also visited the Anganwadi Centre at Talwandi Bhai, which was found closed during the inspection. He instructed the District Programme Officer to issue a show-cause notice regarding the closure and submit an action-taken report to the Commission.
During the visit, beneficiaries were informed about the Commission’s helpline number 98767-64545. They were also advised that complaints related to schemes under the National Food Security Act, 2013, could be lodged with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development).
