Deputy Commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu announced that the plantation drive in the district will begin on June 5, coinciding with International Environment Day, and will run until September 30.
She instructed all departments, including forestry, to prepare in advance for this initiative.
It is the responsibility of every citizen to plant as many trees as they can, she stated following a meeting on the subject.
She emphasized that to honor Mother Earth and protect the environment, a campaign will be launched in the district where every citizen will be encouraged to plant a sapling in tribute to their mother.
She also mentioned that saplings would be planted under the Mahatma Gandhi Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. She urged all departments to ensure the maximum number of saplings are planted this year. Additionally,
