Unhygienic milk, paneer, sweets samples collected; Vendors warned of strict action
Ferozepur, July 16, 2025: As part of the ongoing campaign to ensure the availability of safe and hygienic food products to the public, the Food Safety Officer of Ferozepur, Sandeep Singh Sandhu, conducted surprise inspections at various locations across the district on July 15, 2025.
Acting on the directions of Punjab Commissioner, Food and Drug Administration, Dilraj Singh, and under the supervision of District Health Officer, Dr. Sukhbir Kaur, a total of five samples were collected during the inspection, including those of milk, paneer, and sweets.
During a check at the Nestle Milk Centre in village Sekhwan, it was found that the hygiene standards at the centre were extremely poor. Shockingly, around 600 litres of collected milk contained a significant number of dead flies floating in it. A sample of this contaminated milk was taken for laboratory testing on the spot. The field officers of the concerned company were immediately informed about the findings and were instructed to take necessary corrective action without delay.
Authorities issued a stern warning to all food business operators and shopkeepers that no compromise will be tolerated when it comes to the quality and purity of food products. Strict legal action will be initiated against any vendor found involved in adulteration or processing food items in unhygienic conditions.
District Health Officer, Dr. Sukhbir Kaur strongly advised the food vendors and manufacturers to maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene in their establishments. Clean and safe food is not only a legal responsibility but a moral duty towards the health and well-being of consumers. Non-compliance will invite heavy penalties, including suspension of licenses and legal prosecution under the Food Safety and Standards Act.
