Verka extends comprehensive relief to flood-hit and dairy farmers
Ferozepur, September 21, 2025: In response to the recent floods that devastated several villages in Ferozepur and Fazilka districts, Verka has launched a wide-ranging relief initiative to support affected farmers and livestock owners. The operation is being carried out under the guidance of Milkfed Chairman Narinder Singh Shergill and Managing Director Rahul Gupta.
Verka Milk Union Ferozepur, led by Chairman Gurbhej Singh Tibbi and General Manager Sugyan Prasad Singh, ensured uninterrupted milk collection and supply despite severe logistical challenges. This step protected farmers’ incomes and maintained a steady milk supply to consumers.
To aid recovery, Verka is providing barley and berseem seeds at subsidized rates to help farmers restart cultivation. Affordable, customized animal feed is also being distributed to address fodder shortages. In collaboration with the National Dairy Development Board (NDDB), veterinary medical kits—including deworming tablets, tick-control medication, and udder disinfectant sprays—are being supplied to livestock owners in affected villages such as Chak Hamad, Bundala, and Talli Gulam.
Verka has also partnered with Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Ludhiana, to deploy a team of 20 veterinarians. Over four days, this team is offering door-to-door animal health services, ensuring that farmers receive critical assistance at their doorstep.
Chairman Gurbhej Singh Tibbi expressed gratitude to the university’s Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Jatinder Pal Singh Gill, for his guidance in implementing these veterinary services. Tibbi reaffirmed Verka’s commitment to continue providing all possible support to flood-affected farmers and dairy farmers in the coming days.
