Chandigarh successfully managed 2nd wave of COVID as cases keep on declining, says UT health department
UT Adviser takes round of GMSH-16
Chandigarh, August 6, 2021:
The Chandigarh Administration has successfully managed the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic in Chandigarh and there has been a gradual decline in the number of COVID cases in the city over the last few weeks.
To manage the expected third wave of COVID in Chandigarh, the health department is further augmenting its facilities. To take first hand stock of the ground situation, Dharam Pal, Adviser, U.T. Chandigarh along with Arun Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary Health took a round of GMSH-16 along with Director Health Services and other senior officers of the department.
The Adviser inspected the working of PSA Oxygen Generator plant which was installed during the second surge of COVID-19. The DHS informed the Adviser that an additional PSA plant with 1000 lpm capacity will be installed shortly. The Adviser also visited Liquid Oxygen Plant facility and the adjoining Oxygen Manifold Area in the hospital.
The hospital has recently increased the ICU bed capacity from 8 to 20 to meet the demand of COVID Patients. The soon to be made operational ICU would have state of art ventilators, Beds and Multipara monitors. The Advisor was pleased with the preparations and the ICU setup.
He also visited the Radiology Department and the Blood Bank. As vaccination is also a very important tool for the control of COVID, the officials took a round of COVID Vaccination Centre at GMSH 16 where the Advisor interacted with the beneficiaries. The Adviser was pleased and satisfied to see the preparations of the Health Department.
