DEO Fazilka extends invitation to voters to participate in festival of Democracy on June 1
3,000 cops deployed for smooth conduct of the election process
Fazilka, 29 May 2024: District Election Officer-cum-DC Dr Senu Duggal and SSP Dr Pragya Jain have extended an invitation to the voters to participate in the festival of democracy on June 1 with enthusiasm.
Dr Duggal said, all the preparations related to the elections in the district have been completed. This time 829 polling booths have been established for 7,63,623 voters in the district. She said that 20 models, 8 pink, 8 green, 4 PwD and 4 youth booths are being set up in the district. She said that this time voter slips had been distributed to all the voters and invitation letters and voter guides had been sent to every resident. Meanwhile, while all kinds of basic facilities are being ensured at the polling booths, for the welfare of the polling staff and also for the voters in danger of heat waves, tents, chabeel etc. are being arranged at the booths.
DC said that the SOPs of 72 hours before 6 pm today have come into force. Security forces are on high alert to stop the flow of money or drugs at this last moment. SST and FST are operational and the borders of neighbouring states are being sealed so that no bad elements can come from there to influence the elections. She also said that under Section 126, there will be a ban on opinion polls and exit polls in the last 72 hours. She said that the election campaign will end on May 30 at 6 pm, after which no public meeting will be held.
C Vigil and other grievance systems are operational and all 258 grievances have been redressed. She appealed to all the voters to come to the booths to vote on June 1 without any fear or apprehension. Voting is both our right and our duty. Therefore, everyone should consider it as a duty.
SSP Dr Pragya Jain said that strict security arrangements have been made by the police in the district. 71 patrolling parties have been formed in the district. 13 QRT teams have been deployed. She said that after the implementation of MCC, the police in the district have recovered drugs, cash and liquor worth more than Rs.57 crores. The police department has also taken action against 750 people who created trouble in the elections. More than 3,000 police personnel have been deployed to conduct the election process smoothly and central security forces will also be deployed at sensitive booths.
