It is noteworthy that Dharam Singh Chhokar has been accused of money laundering in the case related to Mahira Group, for which ED and Haryana Police were searching for Chhokar, but it was being said that Chhokar could not be traced, on which a petition was filed in the High Court which stated that Chhokar is contesting the elections, has also filed his nomination, the details of his programs are available on the social media, hence the police and ED can easily arrest him. On this petition, the High Court told Haryana Police and ED in a strict tone to arrest Chhokar by tomorrow.
VO1 Chhokar and his sons are facing several criminal cases related to cheating and forgery. The matter has come up before the High Court in the wake of a petition filed by Virendra Singh, a self-proclaimed social activist from Samalkha in Panipat. It has been alleged that the outgoing MLA from Samalkha seat Dharam Singh Chhokar is circumventing the provisions of law and contesting elections without fear of arrest.
The petitioner said, "Police authorities as well as ED have informed the courts that they are unable to trace the accused, however, the accused is contesting elections by openly campaigning, which leads to the conclusion that the state authorities are misleading the courts and are in collusion with the accused MLA. For several allegations, Chhokar and his son are facing several cases including investigation by ED."
The petitioner has sought direction to the ED to take appropriate legal action against Dharam Singh Chhokar, who is contesting re-election from Samalkha constituency despite the issuance of various non-bailable warrants, registration of FIRs and enforcement case information reports.
It has been alleged that the ED and the state government are giving undue benefits to the accused MLA due to his political influence.
