Ferozepur, November 22, 2024: In preparation for the upcoming voter list summary revision based on eligibility criteria as of January 1, 2025, Election Roll Observer and Divisional Commissioner Ferozepur, Arun Sekhri, along with Election Tehsildar Chand Prakash, conducted a crucial meeting with representatives of recognised political parties.
Sekhri outlined the Election Commission of India's (ECI) program for revising the electoral rolls. The submission deadline for claims and objections is November 28, 2024. Special camps will be held at polling stations on November 23 and 24 to facilitate voter registration and corrections.
He emphasized the importance of encouraging eligible citizens to register as voters and urged political parties to actively participate in the process. He requested the appointment of booth-level agents (BLAs) at each polling station during the special camps to support Booth-Level Officers (BLOs). Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) will issue BLAs with identity cards, and they can submit up to 30 forms for claims and corrections.
Election Tehsildar Chand Prakash detailed the process, stating that BLOs will be available at polling stations from 10 AM to 5 PM on the camp dates to receive forms from the public. Various forms will cater to different requirements like Form 6 for new voter registration, Form 6A for NRI voter registration, Form 7 for deletion of names, Form 8 for corrections or transferring votes to another constituency due to residence change.
In addition, citizens can submit these forms online via the ECI website (www.voters.eci.gov.in) or the Voter Helpline app, available on the Google Play Store. For further assistance, a toll-free helpline at 1950 is also operational.
Citizens turning 18 or older by January 1, 2025, are encouraged to register and contribute to a stronger democracy. The final voter list will be published on January 6, 2025, following the resolution of all claims and objections by December 24, 2024.
