Taking a review of the Traffic Decongestion Committee today at the DAC Meeting Hall, Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain asked all stakeholders that it is the right time to do something concrete on the ground level before the situation gets worse.
She said that all the works that need approval and coordination with other departments or UT officials and Railways should be accorded top priority by fixing the timeline.
Asking the SDM, Mohali Damandeep Kaur, to keep in touch with her Chandigarh UT counterpart to get the issue sorted out to widen and convert the Gurdwara Shri Sanjha Sahib road regularly. This road hampering the completion of Sector 48/65 to Dara Studio work.
Directing ADC (UD) Anmol Singh Dhaliwal and EO Zirakpur Ashok Kumar for preparing the acquisition plan for the completion of Bawa White House to Zirakpur-Patiala (NH 64) Highway at Dayalpura Area falling in MC Zirakpur limits at the earliest possible. This patch of road needs about 20.64 acres of acquisition of land for completion.
Urging the Railway's Senior Assistant Divisional Engineer Vijay who was also part of this review meeting to assist in speeding up the pending issues with the Railway such as insufficient carriage-way width near railway crossing JLPL, to materialise the proposal to build a dual carriage-way under the bridge on Junction 75/76-90 to Railway line near Village Chilla, another proposal of dual carriage-way Railway Under Pass at Junction 98/106-107 to 100/104 near railway line.
Asking the GMADA and Traffic police officials to materialise the proposal of removing the steep curve near Gurdwara Mata Sunder Kaur Sahib, to complete PR 7 road NH-64 (Chhatt Light Point) to NH 21 (Gopal Sweets), the Deputy Commissioner said that the execution of works should be taken on a fast pace to give relief to the commuters from the traffic chaos. She said that the District Administration will coordinate with PSIEC to make the traffic smooth from Junction 72/73-74/75 (Quark City) and Junction 73/74 to provide some land.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the Rural Development department officers to clear the issue of the village pond that hinders the completion of the 8-lane dual carriage-way road dividing sector 89/90.
The PWD Official directed to follow up on the proposal mooted for the Upgradation of Chapparchiri Kalan to Chaparchiri Khurd (to decongest Landra-Kharar Road) and Pabhat-Alipur-Nadiali-Dayalpura Link road that requires repair, immediately through DC office to provide alternate roads.
Deputy Commissioner Aashika Jain while taking review of progress made after the first meeting with MC, GMADA, PWD, Local Bodies and Rural Development officers insisted upon a time bound and result oriented approach to provide relief to the commuters on Mohali roads. She said that any difficulty or issue should immediately be brought to her knowledge for conducting an inter-department coordination meeting.
The meeting was attended by the ADCs Viraj S Tidke, Anmol Dhaliwal and Sonam Chaudhary, MC Commissioner T Benith, SDMs Damandeep Kaur Mohali and Gurmander Singh Kharar, Assistant Commissioner MC Mohali Deepankar Garg, DSP Traffic Karnail Singh, PWD ExEns H S Bhullar and Shivpreet Singh, SE from GMADA Nitin Kamboj and representatives from town planning from GMADA.
