Jaito, January 25 2025: Labour leader Angrez Singh Gora Matta, who has been agitating for some time for improvement of the condition of the school and hospital in nearby village Matta, on Saturday, his sister, son and two other children climbed onto a water tank.
Although officials of the district and police administration were present at the spot since morning to bring them down, they did not come down till the time of filing the news.
It is worth mentioning that the Save School and Hospital Front has been fighting for a long time to improve the condition of the government school and hospital in village Matta. But due to the administration not paying attention to their demands, on Saturday morning at around 11 am, labor leader Angrez Singh Gora Matta, his sister Gurvinder Kaur, 11-year-old son Anmol Preet Singh, student Gurpreet Singh and another student climbed onto the water tank.
As soon as the information was received, DSP Sukhdeep Singh, Police Inspector Rajesh Kumar and Naib Tehsildar Harpal Singh reached the spot and tried their best to bring them down. But they remained adamant on staying there until their demands were met.
Meanwhile, Gora Matta said that there is a government senior secondary school in the village from 1947 to 12th standard, whose condition is pathetic and the condition of the hospital built in the village is also deteriorating day by day. While on one hand, the future of the children of the area is bleak due to the focus on the school, on the other hand, the 21-bed hospital is currently only a hospital in name. Due to which demand letters have been sent to the DC Faridkot, DEO and other officials to improve their condition, but no official is paying attention to it. Due to which they are forced to struggle. They said that they will not come down until their demands are met and no action is taken to improve the condition of the school and the hospital.
