Rupnagar (Punjab), March 8, 2025 – The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has taken cognizance of alleged illegal mining in Rupnagar and has sought a response from the Punjab Chief Secretary, following a complaint by BJP District President Ajayvir Singh Lalpura. Lalpura had earlier written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 18, urging immediate action against illegal mining in the region.
He had also exposed the issue through a Facebook Live session from the Agampur bridge at midnight, showing unauthorized sand extraction while the local administration remained unresponsive.
Despite multiple appeals to the Punjab Chief Minister, Chief Secretary, SSP Rupnagar, and the Deputy Commissioner, Lalpura claimed he received no response.
Expressing his frustration, he stated, “I had complete faith in Prime Minister Modi Ji, and the PMO acted swiftly on my complaint.”
“I Won’t Stay Silent” – Lalpura’s Stern Warning
Vowing to continue his fight, Lalpura declared, “This is my district, my homeland. I won’t let illegal mining destroy it. If the mafia and administration don’t stop this loot, I won’t let them sleep peacefully.”
He also accused past and present governments of allowing unchecked exploitation, stating, “During Congress rule, parachute leaders looted Rupnagar. Now, the new government is doing the same. But the people will not remain silent anymore.”
Mounting Pressure on the Punjab Government
With the PMO’s intervention, pressure is now on the Punjab government to take decisive action. Lalpura has warned that if illegal mining continues, he will take to the streets in protest.
