President of India Graces Panjab University Convocation, Encourages Future-Readiness

The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, graced the convocation ceremony of Panjab University in Chandigarh today, celebrating the institution’s long-standing contributions to education, research, and sports.
Addressing the gathering, the President lauded Panjab University’s 140-year legacy as a premier center for higher education. She highlighted its excellence across academics, research, sports, and cultural domains, noting the university’s remarkable feat of winning the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy 17 times. She also praised students Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh for bringing pride to the nation with their medal wins at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
Commending the university’s efforts in fostering academia-industry linkages, the President urged policymakers to enhance industry collaborations and focus on application-based education. She emphasized the need for students to be future-ready, equipped with advanced skills and a positive mindset to navigate an increasingly competitive world. Mastery of emerging technologies, she stressed, would be essential for success.
Encouraging graduates, the President underscored the prestige of studying at Panjab University, which has produced distinguished figures, including Presidents, Prime Ministers, Nobel laureates, and global leaders.
