Chandigarh, March 23, 2025: Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha has directed all government departments to provide details of pending civil services applications.
The Chief Secretary warned that failure to submit the required information by 11 am on March 26 will be interpreted as an indication that the concerned officer and secretary are enabling corrupt practices within their department.
"It is hereby reiterated that delay in disposal of applications for different kinds of services from the public is a major source of corruption in Government functioning. The office of the undersigned had written to you asking for details of the pending applications in your Department pertaining to such services. Subsequently, you have been reminded several times by the office of the undersigned, but the desired information is yet to be received correctly," read the letter issued by Punjab CS to department heads.
"If the desired information is not received correctly by 11:00 A.M. sharp on 26th of March, 2025, it will be presumed that it is a deliberate attempt on the part of the concerned officer, including the Secretary of the Department, to hide/suppress it and perpetuate corrupt practices. In such cases, the Government would be constrained to place the concerned officer under suspension and initiate a strict disciplinary action for major penalty proceedings," the letter further mentioned.
