Three Held in Major Crackdown on Narco-Hawala Network in Amritsar
Amritsar, April 10, 2025 – In a significant breakthrough against narco-terrorism, the Amritsar Rural Police have arrested three individuals allegedly involved in cross-border drug trafficking and illegal hawala operations. The accused have been identified as Ranjit Singh alias Rana, Gurdev Singh alias Gedi, and Shailendra Singh alias Selu.
According to Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav, the arrests were made as part of a major crackdown on narco-hawala networks. The police recovered 500 grams of heroin, a Glock 9mm pistol with two magazines, and ₹33 lakh in hawala money from the possession of the accused.
An FIR has been registered at Lopoke Police Station, and further investigations are underway to trace the forward and backward linkages of this cross-border smuggling network.
DGP Yadav reiterated that the Punjab Police remain committed to dismantling the machinery of narco-terrorism and ensuring the safety of the public.
