Chandigarh, April 12, 2025: Chandigarh has been recognized at the national level for its outstanding performance in Aadhaar enrolment of children. The Union Territory received the award from the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) during the “Aadhaar Samvaad” event held in New Delhi.
The award was received on behalf of the UT administration by Dr. Suman Singh, Director of Health and Family Welfare, from UIDAI CEO Bhuwanesh Kumar.
The accolade celebrates Chandigarh’s proactive and efficient approach to ensuring Aadhaar registration for children right from birth. Thanks to the Health Department's robust efforts, Aadhaar enrolment is facilitated immediately after birth across all major government and private hospitals in the city.
This ensures that newborns receive their identification promptly, enabling early access to government schemes and services. The initiative not only empowers children from the start with a digital identity but also strengthens the broader objectives of the Digital India Mission.
The event also saw the presence of UIDAI’s Regional Office Chandigarh Deputy Director General Bhavana Garg, along with officials Jagdish Kumar and Sonu Kumar Kothari.
