CM Mann announces zone-wise paddy sowing schedule across Punjab

Chandigarh, April 12, 2025: In a major move to streamline water management and ensure efficient agricultural practices, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced a zoned schedule for paddy sowing in the state.
This year, Punjab has been divided into three zones, each with specific sowing dates aimed at optimizing groundwater usage and supporting sustainable farming.
Here's the zonal breakdown:
Zone 1 – Sowing from June 1:
Districts included: Faridkot, Ferozepur, Fazilka, Sri Muktsar Sahib, Bathinda
Zone 2 – Sowing from June 5:
Districts included: Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Rupnagar, Mohali, Fatehgarh Sahib, Hoshiarpur
Zone 3 – Sowing from June 9:
Districts included: Ludhiana, Malerkotla, Mansa, Moga, Barnala, Patiala, Sangrur, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr..
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann emphasized that this staggered approach would help conserve water, reduce power load on the state, and ensure better irrigation planning.
The move is also expected to minimize stubble burning by balancing the crop cycle and harvest period.
The state government will soon issue detailed guidelines to ensure smooth implementation and coordination at the district level.
