Chandigarh, April 15, 2025 – Advocate Sirat Sapra has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) demanding that the newly constructed bus stand in Fazilka be made operational. Despite being inaugurated by the then Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the facility remains non-functional.
After hearing the arguments, the Punjab and Haryana High Court has issued notices to the Punjab Government, the Chief Secretary, the Transport Department, and the Fazilka Municipal Council, seeking their responses. The next hearing in the matter is scheduled for April 21, 2025.
Sapra argued that the bus stand has remained unused since 2021, rendering it idle for nearly four years. She further pointed out that the premises are now being misused by drug addicts and for illegal vehicle parking, posing risks to public safety and resulting in a waste of government resources.
