Gurugram, April 19, 2025: Haryana Energy, Transport and Labour Minister, Anil Vij has taken strict cognizance of the recent gas pipeline fire incident in Gurugram and termed it a serious matter.
Vij said that a committee has been ordered to be constituted under the chairmanship of the Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) of the Energy Department. This committee will investigate whether gas pipelines have been laid beneath power lines and whether they have been laid in accordance with all standards.
While interacting with media persons today in Gurugram, Energy Minister Anil Vij said that just two days ago, a gas pipeline was found running beneath an electric power line in Gurugram.
He questioned how such a pipeline could be laid under a power feeder, especially when the pipeline stretches across the entire city.
He also raised the question of whether the gas line was laid first or the power feeder. The proximity of the two systems poses a significant hazard, and a complete investigation will be conducted. A survey of the entire Gurugram area will be undertaken in this context.
“We are fully prepared for the summer season, we have sufficient electricity, and there will be no power cuts” – Vij
Answering a question regarding electricity availability during the summer season, Anil Vij assured that there will be no power cuts this year. He said full preparations have been made and the state has sufficient electricity.
He has instructed that transformer banks and vehicles be stationed at every substation for quick response to faults. Orders have also been issued to replace weak wires and conductors wherever needed.
He added that officers/officials have been instructed to upgrade transformers where load capacity is low. He emphasized that the work in the Energy department is being carried out in a phased and structured manner.
“Thermal units will be set up and expanded at Khedar and Panipat” – Vij
Vij further informed that recently, Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for an 800 MW ultra-critical unit in Yamunanagar. Similarly, thermal units will be set up and expanded at Khedar and Panipat.
He said that there is no shortage of electricity in the state, and all necessary arrangements have been made. The only issue arises when faults occur in the system, which take time to fix, and officials have been directed to address this efficiently. A meeting of energy department officials was recently held in Chandigarh, where various strategies for the upliftment of the department and power companies were discussed.
“I will not let anyone trample the system, and if anyone tries to, I will not spare them” – Vij
In response to a question regarding a recent officer suspension and the crackdown on bureaucracy, Sh. Anil Vij said that it will never be tolerated if elected representatives’ calls are not answered by officers. “If you are not answering calls from ministers or MLAs, how can you be expected to listen to the common people?” he said.
The democratic system exists so that people, who may not be able to reach offices or meet officials directly, can express their concerns through their representatives.
He questioned whether the system is being deliberately failed by ignoring calls. “Governments are formed by legislators, and if their calls are not being answered, it is a mockery of the entire system,” he stated firmly. “I will not let this happen, and whoever tries it, I will not spare them.”
“Congress wants all investigative agencies, police stations and courts to be shut down, they do not trust anyone” – Vij
Responding to a question about the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioning Robert Vadra, Vij said Congress seems to want all investigative agencies, police stations and courts in the country to shut down. “They do not trust anyone,” he remarked.
He questioned whether Congress wants a lawless society where there is murder and looting everywhere, making life unbearable for the common man.
“When an incident occurs, an agency has to investigate. By attacking the ED, Congress is trying to exert pressure on a fair and neutral investigative agency,” he said.Energy Minister Anil Vij clarified that ED or the police do not hand out punishments.
“They only build cases and submit them to the court. The court decides based on the facts presented.” He urged Congress to allow investigative agencies to do their work and not politicize the matter. After the press briefing, Sh. Vij visited BJP leader Shri Gagan Goyal’s residence in Gurugram.
