Chandigarh, April 27, 2025: Hemant Kumar, an advocate practicing at the Punjab and Haryana High Court and a resident of Haryana, has submitted a Memorandum-cum-Representation to senior officials of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, highlighting a discrepancy in the IPS Civil List 2024 concerning the Date of Birth of an Haryana cadre IPS officer.
The memorandum, addressed to Govind Mohan, IAS, Secretary, and Rakesh Kumar Singh, Additional Secretary, Union Ministry of Home Affairs, points out inconsistencies regarding the birth date of Ajit Singh Shekhawat, IPS (Haryana Cadre, 2017 Batch, Recruitment ID 20171180), who is currently posted as Superintendent of Police, Ambala.
According to Hemant Kumar:
- The IPS Civil List 2024, accessible via the IPS official portal, mentions Ajit Singh Shekhawat’s Date of Birth as 20th November 1985.
- Meanwhile, the official Gradation List published by the Haryana Home Department and available on the Haryana Police website lists his Date of Birth as 20th January 1985.
While the Preface to the IPS Civil List 2024 notes that in the event of any inconsistency, the service record maintained by the competent authority shall prevail, Advocate Hemant Kumar emphasized in his representation that such discrepancies should ideally not exist at all in official records.
In his communication, Kumar has respectfully requested the Union Home Ministry to initiate corrective action to ensure consistency between the Civil List and the official state service records. He also sought an acknowledgment of receipt of his memorandum.
