Pakistani spy arrested in Panipat for leaking sensitive information

Panipat (Haryana), May 14, 2025: In a major breakthrough, Haryana Police have arrested a suspected Pakistani spy from Sector 13/17 in Panipat. The accused, identified as 28-year-old Nauman Ilahi, is a resident of Kairana town in Shamli district, Uttar Pradesh. He was apprehended on May 13, 2025.
Linked to a Suspected Terrorist in Pakistan
According to ADGP (Crime) Kuldeep Yadav, the accused was in contact with a suspected terrorist named Iqbal, believed to be operating from Pakistan.
Nauman Ilahi allegedly used WhatsApp and other social media platforms to send sensitive Indian information across the border.
Seized Electronics Under Forensic Investigation
Police recovered a mobile phone, a laptop, and several documents from the suspect. Forensic analysis of these digital and physical materials is currently underway to determine the extent and nature of the information that may have been leaked to Pakistan.
Possible Connection to International Espionage Network
Preliminary investigations have revealed crucial leads, raising suspicions that Ilahi may be part of a larger international espionage network.During interrogation, he reportedly admitted to being in contact with a Pakistani handler for an extended period.
Authorities are now working to determine which government institutions or critical installations he may have targeted and what specific intelligence was compromised.
National Security Agencies Take Over
Given the sensitive nature of the case, national security agencies have been involved, and the investigation is being pursued as a matter of national security.Police have also launched a deeper probe into Ilahi’s past activities, digital footprint, and potential associates.
The arrest has triggered heightened alert levels across intelligence and security establishments as authorities continue efforts to dismantle any wider espionage networks operating within the country.
