New York (US), July 15, 2025 – As flash floods wreak havoc across parts of the United States, dramatic stories of survival continue to emerge. One such account comes from an Indian family residing in Edison, New Jersey, who were forced to abandon their car and belongings while en route to the airport to catch a flight to India.
According to a message shared by senior journalist Harish Monga, his daughter, who lives in the U.S., was caught in the floodwaters.
With rising water levels making travel impossible, she and her companions had no choice but to leave their vehicle behind—taking only essential documents and a laptop bag before wading through the flood to safety. They were on their way to the New York airport for a return flight to India when the incident occurred.
“My daughter shared this while she too was struck in the flood. They left the car and all bags behind—only managing to carry documents and a laptop,” Harish Monga said in his message.
