“Drug-Free Punjab Yatra” – awareness programme held in Ferozepur villages
Ferozepur, July 18, 2025: The state government’s ambitious initiative “Drug-Free Punjab Yatra” - under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, - is being actively carried out to eradicate drug abuse from the state. As part of this campaign, Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gosal, Coordinator of the Drug-Free Movement, Ferozepur Urban, participated as the chief guest in various awareness programs organized in different villages.
Addressing gatherings at villages including Masat Ke Hithar, Gulam Hussain Wala, Ola Ke, and Kunde, Dr. Amandeep Kaur Gosal emphasized the government’s firm commitment to uproot the drug menace from Punjab. She appealed to villagers, Village Defense Committees, Gram Panchayats, and volunteers to adopt a compassionate approach towards drug victims and motivate them to seek proper treatment so they can reintegrate into society and lead a respectful life.
She further cautioned the public to sever all ties with those involved in drug trafficking, terming such individuals as enemies of society who cannot be trusted by anyone. Addressing the youth, she highlighted that often young people fall prey to bad company and are lured into drug addiction, which they tend to hide from their families, worsening the situation. Timely intervention is necessary, as prolonged addiction makes it increasingly difficult to recover.
Dr. Gosal reiterated the government’s determination under Chief Minister Mann’s leadership to eliminate drug traffickers from the state. Properties illegally acquired through drug money are being demolished, a move widely appreciated by the public. Strict action is being taken against even the most influential drug smugglers.
