Two Nihangs arrested in murder case of elderly man

Mohali (Punjab), September 7, 2025: Police have arrested two Nihangs in connection with the murder of a 63-year-old man in Sohana, Mohali, two days ago. The accused have been identified as Harnoor Singh and Tarmpreet Singh, who were taken into custody from Sector 70, Mohali, DSP Harsimran Bal confirmed. Two other accused are still absconding.
According to the police investigation, the incident followed a heated altercation at a gurdwara earlier that day between the deceased, Paramjit Singh, and Harnoor’s father. Later, Harnoor and his associates allegedly followed Paramjit Singh’s family.
Just 50 meters from their house, the attackers intercepted the family’s car. As per family statements, Harnoor and his accomplices attacked Paramjit Singh through the car window with a sword. When relatives and neighbors rushed to intervene, they too were attacked. The assailants fled when more people gathered at the spot.
Police teams later intercepted the two accused while they were moving around and arrested them. They were produced in court and have been sent to two-day police remand. DSP Bal stated that raids are underway to nab the remaining absconding suspects. Police are also awaiting the deceased’s post-mortem report.
It has been revealed that the arrested accused run a shop named “Vintage Look” in Sohana.
