Foreign-based gangster ‘Happy Jatt’ drug module busted; hairdresser held with 25.9 kg heroin, 9mm Glock
Amritsar, September 18, 2025:
In a major blow to cross‑border narco‑terror networks under the ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ campaign, the Anti‑Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Border Range, in a joint operation with the Border Security Force (BSF), has busted a drug smuggling module allegedly run by foreign‑based Harpreet Singh alias Happy Jatt, arresting a key operative and seizing 25 packets of heroin weighing 25.9 kg.
The arrested accused has been identified as Sajan Singh alias Billa of village Beharwal, Amritsar, who worked as a hairdresser at a private salon in the city; a sophisticated 9mm Glock pistol was also recovered from his possession.
Preliminary findings indicate that Harpreet Singh alias Happy Jatt, a native of Jandiala Guru, was coordinating with Pakistan‑based smugglers to deliver consignments via drones across the international border.
Police said Happy Jatt is a proclaimed offender facing at least 21 criminal cases in Punjab, and efforts are underway to secure his extradition; investigators are mapping the network’s backward and forward linkages.
Sharing operational details, ANTF Border Range SP Gurpreet Singh said a coordinated ANTF‑BSF action, acting on precise intelligence, intercepted Sajan Singh near Beharwal while he was en route to deliver the consignment.
The probe has revealed that the heroin was dropped by a heavy drone at village Daleke a day earlier, and Sajan had been receiving such drone‑dropped consignments for the past two months while remaining in touch with Happy Jatt over various social media platforms.
Two more members of the module have been identified and are being pursued. An FIR (No. 252 dated 18/09/2025) has been registered under Sections 21‑C, 25 and 29 of the NDPS Act and Section 25 of the Arms Act at Police Station ANTF, SAS Nagar.
