Jalandhar, September 18, 2025:
Punjab Water Resources Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal on Thursday inspected reinforcement work at the vulnerable Dhussi Bundh in Mandala Chhanna, where the Drainage Department, Army units, SDRF teams, and hundreds of volunteers from the local sangat are engaged in round‑the‑clock efforts to prevent a flood‑like situation.
Accompanied by MP Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal and Additional Deputy Commissioner Jasbir Singh, the minister said the government is fully committed to safeguarding communities along the Sutlej by fortifying the embankment, with teams from the Jalandhar administration, Drainage Department, and the Army working under Seechewal’s supervision.
Goyal emphasized there is no shortage of materials or manpower, noting that uninterrupted supplies have been ensured for the task; he lauded the tireless work of the administration, Army, SDRF, and volunteers, and said additional strengthening would be undertaken as water levels recede.
Citing erosion caused by the river’s intensified flow toward the bundh, the minister said “no stone will be left unturned” to protect the embankment and nearby residents, adding that prompt girdawari is underway and compensation will be released expeditiously in cases of flood damage.
