Punjab launches first Industry–Research–Academia ‘Ayurveda Chamber’ to strengthen healthcare, education, and research
Chandigarh, September 25, 2025: Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh inaugurated the state’s first Industry–Research–Academia (IRA) Chamber of Ayurveda at Punjab Kala Bhawan, Chandigarh, positioning it as a bridge between the Ayurvedic industry, universities, and research institutions to upgrade quality, capacity, and global acceptance of Ayurveda.
Launching the initiative, Dr. Balbir Singh said the chamber will align practitioners, manufacturers, and academic researchers on one platform to improve standards in care, curricula, and evidence‑based research, adding that Punjab is the first state to roll out such an integrated framework.
Secretary, Health‑cum‑AYUSH, Dilraj Singh expressed confidence that the IRA Chamber of Ayurveda will accelerate delivery of public‑oriented outcomes for the state and the country, particularly in quality assurance, training, and technology adoption.
IRA Chamber of Ayurveda chairman Dr. Sudhir Batish said the body will focus on empowering education, helping industry raise the bar on GMP‑compliant production, and partnering with research institutions and universities to meet international benchmarks while serving Punjab’s communities.
Punjab State Food Commission chairman Balmukund Sharma noted the Commission has begun a state‑wide project to cultivate medicinal herbs in school premises and to sensitise students on their nutritional and therapeutic uses, linking food safety with preventive health.
Director Ayurveda, Punjab, Dr. Ravi Doomra facilitated the launch proceedings, calling the chamber an enabling platform to convert traditional wisdom into scalable public‑health solutions through collaboration and measurable standards.
