UGC warns against ‘International Islamic University of Prophetic Medicine’ in Kerala; says entity is fake, not authorised to award degrees

New Delhi, 13 October 2025:
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has cautioned students and parents not to take admission in the so-called International Islamic University of Prophetic Medicine in Kozhikode, Kerala, reiterating that the entity figures in UGC’s list of fake universities and is not recognised under Sections 2(f) or 3 of the UGC Act, 1956.
In a public notice dated 8 October 2025, the UGC said the outfit, run by Jamiathu Twibbunnabawi Trust, continues to display “university” signage at a location on Kundamangalam–Wayanad Road, despite having no legal authority to use the word “university” or grant degrees under Section 22 of the UGC Act.
The regulator said any admissions to such self-styled institutions could jeopardise students’ careers and urged the public at large to avoid enrolling in the entity.
