Tarn Taran (Punjab), November 9, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate from Tarn Taran, Harmeet Singh Sandhu, launched a sharp attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing it of repeatedly betraying Punjab and its farmers. He said the people of Punjab would never forgive the party for its “deceitful and anti-farmer policies.”
Addressing a gathering during his campaign, Sandhu alleged that the BJP’s actions have consistently undermined Punjab’s interests — from the controversial farm laws to the alleged withholding of funds due to the state.
“The BJP backstabbed our farmers by pushing through laws that would have handed agriculture to big corporates. When farmers protested peacefully, they were branded as traitors and terrorists. More than 750 farmers lost their lives, yet not a single BJP leader showed remorse,” Sandhu said.
He further accused the BJP of deliberately weakening Punjab economically by denying it its fair share of funds and water.
“Be it the SYL canal dispute, the delay in rural development grants, or pending GST dues, the BJP has discriminated against Punjab at every step,” he claimed.
Sandhu said that people across Punjab are now aware of the BJP’s “anti-farmer and anti-Punjab agenda” and will respond through the ballot box. “The people of Punjab know their rights. They will give a befitting reply to this party that thrives on lies and division,” he said.
Urging voters to stand with the Aam Aadmi Party and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, Sandhu said the state government remains committed to protecting farmers’ interests and upholding Punjab’s dignity and prosperity.
