Special Meeting Held to Finalize Preparations for National-Level 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' Event in Amritsar
Ludhiana, November 10, 2025: Mr. Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Member (NISD) and Special Member (NCCDDR) of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, held a special meeting with Mr. Gaurav Yadav, DGP of Punjab, in Chandigarh to ensure the success of the national-level 'Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan' (Drug-Free India Campaign) event scheduled for November 18 in Amritsar district, Punjab.
Mr. Bindra stated that the event will see the participation of thousands of youth and students, who will unite in the mission to make Punjab a drug-free state. He announced that the Chief Guests for the event will be the Union Minister, Dr. Virendra Kumar, and the Honourable Governor of Punjab, Shri Gulab Chand Kataria.
"This first-of-its-kind meeting between Dr. Virendra Kumar and Hon'ble Governor Gulab Chand Kataria will significantly strengthen the fight against drug abuse across the state and foster community participation," Mr. Bindra added.
He emphasized that the presence of Dr. Virendra Kumar, the Hon'ble Cabinet Minister for the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, will be a major source of inspiration for the people of Amritsar and will further reinforce the nationwide campaign for a Drug-Free India.
"Drug addiction destroys the lives of entire families. The Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan provides an opportunity for the youth to move forward. By eradicating drug abuse, we can encourage our youth to participate in sports," Mr. Bindra remarked.
The meeting was also attended by central representatives from the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, including Joint Secretary Ms. Lata Ganapatti, IAS, and Shri Parveen Thind, IAS, who shared their valuable insights.
Mr. Bindra expressed confidence that under the able leadership of the country's Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, and Home Minister, Shri Amit Shah, India will soon become drug-free.
