BSF nabs armed smugglers in Gurdaspur, recovers 11 kg heroin in major anti-drug operation

Gurdaspur (Punjab), November 15, 2025:In a major breakthrough, the Border Security Force (BSF) has apprehended an armed smuggler and recovered a significant consignment of heroin weighing 11.08 kg in Gurdaspur.
Acting on reliable intelligence inputs regarding suspicious movement near the depth area of DBN Road, BSF personnel intercepted a man loitering near village Pakhoke Mahimara.
The suspect, a resident of Chheherta, Amritsar, was found carrying one pistol with a magazine, one live round, a mobile phone, and ₹4,210 in cash.
During interrogation, the suspect revealed information that led BSF troops to a concealed location. A thorough search resulted in the recovery of one motorcycle and four large packets of suspected heroin, wrapped in yellow adhesive tape with illuminating strips and secured with nylon thread and hooks.
Upon opening, the packets contained 20 smaller packets hidden under multiple layers of cloth and plastic.
All seized items have been handed over to Police Station DBN for further investigation and legal proceedings.
The BSF stated that the successful operation underscores its robust intelligence network, vigilance, and swift action, reaffirming its commitment to thwart cross-border smuggling and safeguard the nation’s security.
