Chandigarh, April 10, 2026: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has directed that 33% of MBBS seats and hospital beds be reserved for Haryana residents in the upcoming Shri Sheetla Mata Devi Medical College and Hospital in Gurugram.
The Chief Minister said that out of 150 MBBS seats and 850 hospital beds, one-third will be earmarked for students and patients from Haryana. He also instructed that fees for these reserved seats be aligned with government medical colleges to ensure affordable education for local students.
Chairing a Cabinet Sub-Committee meeting, Saini emphasised that patients on reserved beds should receive benefits under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, ensuring access to quality healthcare for economically weaker sections.
The project, being developed under the PPP model, is spread over 30.75 acres in Gurugram and is expected to be completed by August 2026. Officials informed that around ₹500 crore has already been spent out of the total project cost of ₹679.08 crore.
The Chief Minister also directed officials to explore setting up 3–4 additional hospitals with 100–150 beds each in Gurugram to meet the growing healthcare demand.
Highlighting the vision, Saini said the institution will be developed to international standards and will significantly enhance healthcare infrastructure in the region.
