‘Lawrence of Punjab’ docuseries row: Top Punjabi leaders, Sidhhu Moosewala’s father Balkaur Singh get death threats

Chandigarh, April 25, 2026:A major political storm has erupted in Punjab after several senior leaders and Balkaur Singh, father of late singer Sidhu Moosewala, reportedly received death threats linked to the controversial “Lawrence of Punjab” documentary.
Among those threatened are Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, senior Congress leader Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, and Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia.
According to sources, the threats were sent via WhatsApp from an international mobile number. The message explicitly referenced the “Lawrence of Punjab” documentary, warning that the film would be released at any cost. It further threatened that those opposing the documentary would be targeted with bullets and explosives.

The senders also hinted that they are the same individuals targeting leaders who have been vocal against the documentary. The development has triggered panic across political and social circles in the state.
Security agencies have taken the matter seriously and launched an investigation to trace the origin of the messages. Authorities are also reviewing the security arrangements of the नेताओं who received threats.
Following the incident, the administration has been put on high alert, with heightened vigilance across Punjab.
