Amritsar (Punjab, April 26, 2026: BJP leader Akshay Sharma on Sunday welcomed seven Rajya Sabha Members of Parliament who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), describing the development as a significant boost to the party’s strength and a step toward development-driven politics.
Sharma said the decision of the MPs to align with the BJP reflects a growing shift among leaders toward an ideology focused on governance, national interest, and public welfare. He added that the move has also exposed what he termed as the “misgovernance and self-serving politics” of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
According to him, the leaders have chosen a political path that prioritises transparency, development, and accountability. He asserted that the BJP has emerged as a trusted political force, working consistently for the welfare of all sections of society.
The BJP leader further said that people in Punjab are now looking for strong and decisive leadership, and the entry of these MPs into the party reinforces that sentiment. “When public interest is overlooked, responsible leaders seek better alternatives. This decision reflects that mindset,” he said.
Highlighting the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Sharma claimed that the country has achieved new milestones in development, governance, and security, attracting individuals from various sectors to the BJP’s ideology.
Expressing confidence ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, Sharma said the people of the state would support a vision centred on development, employment generation, farmers’ welfare, improved law and order, and infrastructure growth.
He concluded that the induction of the seven Rajya Sabha MPs is not merely a political development but a step that could shape a new direction for Punjab’s progress in the coming years.
