Chandigarh, May 1, 2026: Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal on Thursday alleged that Bhagwant Mann attended the special Punjab Vidhan Sabha session on Labour Day in an inebriated condition, triggering a fresh political controversy in the state.
In a strongly worded statement, Badal termed the alleged conduct a “serious breach of decorum in the Temple of Democracy” and an insult to the people of Punjab. He also cited previous instances, claiming that similar behaviour had been witnessed on multiple occasions in the past.
The SAD leader further asserted that the Chief Minister had lost the moral authority to remain in office and demanded his immediate resignation.
However, the allegations made by Badal have not been independently verified, and there has been no official response from the Chief Minister or the state government at the time of filing this report.
