Punjab:Transgender candidate Komal Mahant wins Samana MC poll on SAD ticket

Patiala, May 29, 2026: In a notable moment in Punjab’s local body elections, transgender candidate Komal Mahant emerged victorious in the Samana Municipal Council polls on a ticket from the Shiromani Akali Dal.
Winning from Ward No. 18, Komal Mahant credited the people of Samana for the victory and thanked voters for their trust and support.
Reacting after the win, Komal Mahant said, “First of all, Namaskar and Sat Shri Akal to all the people of Samana. I pray to God to keep everyone happy. I love you from the bottom of my heart, my people from Samana and Ward 18. Their love and support have helped me reach here.”
