Punjab Government to bring 2 bills in Assembly to abolish Contractual job system and provide regular jobs: Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, May 30, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann today announced that his government will bring 2 bills in the state Assembly to abolish Contratual job system from the state and provide regular jobs to the youth.
Addressing a press conference after import Punjab Cabinet meeting, Punjab Chief Minister said that He said that government employees including Fireman, Sewerage Man and others with such jobs which are considered dangerous, will be regularised if they have completed three years of service.
They will get all benefits of government service.
He said that scheme will be implemented in 51 departments.
He said that other employees which are considered non dangerous will have to complete five years of service to get benefit of this scheme. Around 18000 government employees are likely to get benefit of this scheme.
He said that after passing these bills in Assembly they will be sent to Governor for getting his ascent and after his approval appropriate laws will be implemented in the state to provide benefit to these outsourced and contractual employees.
Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha was also present along with Punjab CM during the press conference.
