Chandigarh, June 22, 2026: The Punjab Government will organise three large-scale devotional programmes titled ‘Ek Shaam Bhagwan Shiv De Naam’ in Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Batala later this month, with AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann set to participate alongside devotees.
The announcement was made by Tourism and Cultural Affairs Department Adviser Deepak Bali during a press conference held jointly with Sanatan Seva Samiti National President Vijay Kumar Sharma.
Highlighting the government's efforts to promote religious and cultural traditions, Bali said Punjab's rich spiritual heritage is deeply rooted in ancient scriptures, Sikh teachings and diverse faith traditions. He added that the Bhagwant Mann-led government has been working to preserve and celebrate the cultural and religious values of all communities.
According to Bali, the state has undertaken several initiatives in recent years, including commemorative events dedicated to Sikh Gurus and the promotion of Sanatan traditions. He noted that the Punjab Government celebrated the Hindu New Year (Nav Samvat) at the state level for the first time and has expanded pilgrimage facilities under the Chief Minister’s Tirath Yatra Scheme.
Under the scheme, three new pilgrimage circuits—Khatu Shyam-Salasar, Mathura-Vrindavan and Haridwar-Rishikesh—have been added to facilitate visits to prominent religious destinations.
Announcing the schedule, Bali said the devotional programmes will be held on June 27 at Ranjit Avenue Grounds in Amritsar, June 28 at Government College, Gurdaspur, and June 29 at S.L. Bawa School Ground in Batala.
Renowned devotional singer Hansraj Raghuwanshi, known for his Shiva bhajans, will perform at all three events. Organisers said the programmes aim to provide devotees with an opportunity to participate in spiritual gatherings and devotional music dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Bali also confirmed that Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann will attend the events and join devotees in the celebrations.
Speaking on the occasion, Vijay Kumar Sharma praised the Punjab Government's efforts to promote Sanatan traditions and preserve cultural values. He urged people from Amritsar, Gurdaspur, Batala and neighbouring areas to participate in large numbers and make the events a success.
The organisers expect thousands of devotees to attend the programmes, which are being positioned as a blend of spirituality, culture and community participation.
